Mission - to support programs involving youth 6 through 18 years of age through funding and service hours in programs such as:

Youth Leadership Workshop Subcommittee - Sherri Ide, Chair

Mission - to work with the local School Districts in the County to conduct a Youth Leadership Workshop for High School Sophomores.  Community leaders are used to interact and present activities and topics that build and encourage leadership qualities. 
Subcommittee activities include:

- Confirmation of Workshop Dates - Recruiting Counselors
- Confirmation of Facility and Food Services - Arranging for Promotional Items
- Contacting School Principals - Publicity including Kiwanis Literature for Chaperones & Counselors
- Setting Agendas & Schedule - Providing Sponsored Clubs Literature to Attendees

Mission - to provide a support system for youth, for elementary though college-aged students, and for adults with developmental disabilities.  It is an effort to provide these groups with an positive alternative use of their time, to promote a desire for community service, and to encourage and build leadership skills.  Sponsored programs and activities include:

- Escanaba Junior High School Builders Club - Aktion Club of Escanaba
- Holy Name Junior High School Builders Club - Transportation & Hosting of Sponsored Guests To Our Meetings
- Escanaba High School Key Club - Designation of Advisors for Builders Clubs, Key Clubs, & Circle K Clubs
- Mid-Peninsula High School Key Club - Attendance at Sponsored Programs

Aktion Club Subcommittee - Dorothy Kollman, Chair      Aktion.Club@EscanabaKiwanis.org

Mission - to develop and support a Community Service Group composed of adults with developmental disabilities.  It provides an opportunity for these people to develop leadership skills and to perform community service.  Aktion Club concentrates on the abilities of people and not their disabilities.  Subcommittee activities include:

- Serving as Advisors to the Aktion Club - Identifying Service Projects and Fundraisers
- Advisors give directions on conducting meetings - Arranging Kiwanis supervision of Aktion Members
- Advisors arrange programs for Aktion Club meetings - Communicating with Aktion Member Caregivers
- Setting up a rotation with other Kiwanis Clubs for Advisors - Recruiting new Aktion Members and Advisors
- Partnering with Lakestate Industries for technical assistance

Mission - to provide funds and service hours to programs involving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers through age 5 such as:

- Supporting the "Parenting the First Year" Newsletter - Raising Funds for "IDD", a Kiwanis Worldwide Service Project
- Supporting the "Community Foundation" - Supporting the "Welcome Newborns Program" with MSU Extension
- Reading to Head Start Students - Supporting Infant Safety Seat Inspection & Replacement Programs
- "Reading is Fundamental" Program with Head Start

Mission - to support Projects and Events financially and with volunteer service that will benefit the entire community.  There are Subcommittees for Special Events such as the Special Olympics, the Century Bike Ride, and the Home & Garden Show.  Other activities and supported organizations include:

- Highway Cleanup in April, July, and October - Red Cross
- Birthday Cards for Senior Citizens - Cultural Activities in the Community

Mission - to organize the Annual Upper Peninsula Special Olympics Basketball Tournament.  Winning Teams are eligible to participate in the State Special Olympics Games.  Subcommittee activities include:

Mission - to serve as an advisory group for the Board of Directors and Club Members.  The Chair of this Committee is the Immediate Past President who calls the group together for meetings.  If the Chair does not call for a meeting when required, another Past President may do so.  Committee activites include:


Nominating Officers and Board Members Making special event arrangements (eg. Governor's visit, etc.)
Reviewing and recommending changes to the Bylaws Designating annually a Past President as Liason to the Board
Advising the Board on liability and other insurance matters
